Layering with #gnomes: Beginning to Name Values

Here is a beginning to my credo make.  I have some more layers to add to my thinking in upcoming posts... In fact I think I have a lot more to say, but right now I am going to throw out here some thinking I have going so far in terms of re-purposing my toyhack project and invite more voices to think with me in this voicethread.

  1. Great way to share out thinking and develop a credo.

  2. thinking out loud...sounds different when you hear it. I just talk to myself. Living alone, no one will think I'm crazy and the cats could care less. I'll check this one out, but it may be another tool I don't have the bandwidth for. Also hearing loss make voice apps somewhat less appealing.

  3. With the voicethread, I really liked how you could present the information in so many ways (through the gnomes with their speech bubbles, the text and photos on the screen, as well as with your audio words giving it a context as well). A great vehicle for reflection on many levels! I like the idea of the gnomes as another vehicle for your dissenting opinions (gnomes as a mini-Greek chorus?), especially given the very handcrafted look of the gnomes.

    1. Oh my goodness, gnomes as mini-Greek chorus! That's genius!

    2. I loved this idea of using comics with a voice over! I also enjoyed the fact that you actually made the gnomes! There are a number of educators that discuss the possibility that when we actually create with our hands that it helps us to work through complicated thought processes. I know if I'm having trouble communicating my thoughts that if I engage in some type of tactile engagement like completing a puzzle helps me to sort my thoughts.

  4. I love the fact that you created a tactile vehicle for your thoughts. You have combined so many different ways of sharing your ideas, but they all work together to create meaning. I think I may have to try a voicethread when I am stuck on a writing project and have no one to speak to in the immediate vicinity. ;-)

  5. This is really inspiring for my teaching. I'm sure all learners benefit from hearing & seeing the processes of others. Thanks very much.
